In Don's first year of volunteering, he estimates he delivered about 100 meals.
Two years later he delivered 1329 meals, up to 1780 in 2007 and more than 2230 last year.
Up until Tuesday last week, Don had delivered 116 meals for the new year.
This year he hopes to reach a total meal count of 1500, however because Don is now an emergency call-out volunteer, it will depend on how often his services are needed.
During the day, between 11 am and 1 pm, Don keeps his mobile phone close by in case the call for help comes.
He said he was called out often, with the advantage being that he knows how to find people by name, rather than address, having formed a special bond with many Meals on Wheels recipients.
``It has created a bigger social world as I meet a lot of people I would not meet otherwise,'' he said.
``As well as delivering a meal, you can also be the eyes that can sometimes bring help to people who might need assistance, and that can be hard too _ when you form a friendship with many of these lovely people and then they disappear, they die.
``But the friendship you do form is just wonderful _ Meals on Wheels and keeping active with other activities means my quality of life is good.''
