Boort irrigator and councillor Neil Beattie will join G-MW's chairman Stephen Mills and managing director David Stewart to interview community representatives who have applied to be part of the interim Pyramid-Boort Customer Reference Group. The new group is expected to temporarily replace the suspended water services committee.
G-MW acting managing director Shane McGrath said given the unprecedented circumstances, the authority had adjusted its normal appointment processes to include a highly respected member from the local Pyramid-Boort community on the selection panel.
The panel will start interviews with candidates in the near future, and forward a list of recommended nominees to the board of G-MW, which will make the decision on appointments.
In its open letter to the recent community meeting at Pyramid Hill, G-MW advised that all members of the existing committee could seek to continue their participation in the interim Community Reference Group and a future Water Services Committee.
Applications for the positions close at 5 pm on Friday, January 29.
Cr Beattie lives at Catumnal, west of Boort, and runs a dry-land and irrigation farm along with a trucking operation. He has farmed in the Boort District for 40 years.
Cr Beattie was elected in 2005 to Loddon Shire Council.
He is a member of the Boort Community Bendigo Bank Committee.
