As the multi million-dollar Tatura library construction gets under way, book worms will have a new temporary spot to sink their teeth into their latest read.
The library will close midday on Saturday, January 4 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 14 opposite the Tatura post office at 155 Hogan St.
For the next six months the Hogan St facility will be home to all the regular services and programs the library has provided in the past including rhyme and story time and craft and coffee.
Library items will have their due dates extended until January 14.
The book chute will be inaccessible during the closure and reserved items waiting to be collected will be held until the Hogan St premises is up and borrowing.
The upgrade of the Casey St premises is expected to take around six months as the library doubles in size.
Greater Shepparton City Council has funded the expansion, which will allow Tatura residents to enjoy a fresh, light-filled, modern library.
Members are welcome to visit other Goulburn Valley branches during the short closure.
For more information phone the library on 1300 374 765 or email tatura@gvrlc.vic.gov.au
Rural robbery
Thieves have targeted a remote salinity control pump station in Girgarre East Rd, Girgarre.
The offenders have forced entry through the padlocked, fenced pumping system to access the piping, valves and pump, causing the area to flood.
It is believed the robbery took place between November 11 and December 30.
The theft required the electricity supply to be cut, which was dangerous.
Tatura police are urging the community to keep an eye out for the distinctive dark green piping in the area.
They are also urging anyone with any information about the theft to report it to Constable Mosley on (03) 5824 3099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
