During the October ordinary council meeting, councillors moved a recommendation, noting two SAM-related contracts at a total of $158,000 including GST.
Both confirmed to be funded by council, a larger contract of $88,000 was awarded to a creative director for the Shepparton Art Museum opening celebrations.
The contract was awarded to Ros Abercrombie who has previously been involved in local arts events, including the Shepparton Festival.
Greater Shepparton City Council corporate services director Chris Teitzel said the contract was awarded "through a select tendering process.”
“The creative director will be responsible for the scoping, development and implementation of an event to celebrate the opening of the new SAM,” Mr Teitzel said.
“Council is excited about the appointment of Ros Abercrombie who is very experienced in organising major arts focused events.”
The second contract was awarded to Greenshoot Consulting, a Melbourne-based research company to develop an "Aboriginal Engagement Plan for SAM" at a cost of $70,000.
Stage one of the SAM construction has complete funding, with council now seeking $2.5 million for stage two, which includes car parking and landscaping.
