Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra director Wendy Oakes said she planned to raise funds for the KidsPlus Early Intervention Cerebral Palsy Clinic after her youngest granddaughter was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy at eight months old.
She said her granddaughter had benefited greatly from the ongoing therapy, love and understanding she had received from the Geelong-based clinic.
Mrs Oakes said Sunday's musical program would be varied with jazz, pop and classical tunes to be presented.
“This will be a variety concert involving performers from the GVCO — similar to our chamber concerts,” Mrs Oakes said.
Performers so far include A Touch of Jazz with Brian Matthews and Wade Gregory, the Winded woodwind trio, Fitette String Quartet, Carole McGregor and her electric violin, the GVCO Brass Ensemble, and singers Simon Oakes and Felicity McCowan.
The concert from 2pm on Sunday is at Chapel on Maude Music Hub, 150 Maude St.
Tickets at $10 for adults will be available at the door. There is no charge for children under 16 years.
All proceeds will go to the Geelong-based KidsPlus Early Intervention Cerebral Palsy Clinic.
“My goal is to have 100 paying audience members so that we can make a donation of $1000 to this clinic in appreciation of the wonderful work they are doing,” Ms Oakes said.
