Mrs McAuliffe was named as one of four finalists in the Senior Achievement Award at the Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards on Friday.
Volunteering since the age of 14, Mrs McAuliffe said it all started with her father.
“I used to go with my dad when he volunteered for the Shepparton Youth Club, that was 55 years ago,” she said.
Mrs McAuliffe headed the Love to Sew volunteer group, while volunteering for several other groups including GV Pregnancy Support.
She said although the sewing group didn't sew much anymore, it still met weekly.
“We organise fetes and fundraising activities and we’ve made more than 100 quilts for Maculata Place and made more than 30 for Rumbalara Elders Facility,” she said.
An active community member, Mrs McAuliffe said she wouldn’t be able to do what she loved without the help of others.
“I organise a lot of things and other people give me the help and that’s the generosity of the organisations.
“You can’t do everything. I’m one of those people that if you can just do a little bit then that always makes at least one person happy — whether you make one person happy or 100 people happy, it always matters.”
Shepparton Villages public relations, marketing and fundraising manager Jo Breen said Mrs McAuliffe was a well-respected volunteer and resident at the facility.
“We’re very proud of her and very happy that she was recognised for all the hard work she does,” Ms Breen said.
