Greater Shepparton City Council is calling for nominations for the disability advisory committee, which is expected to contribute to "positive changes" in the community.
The committee represents people from a broad range of backgrounds and provides advice and assistance for a range of council activities, including ways to promote access and inclusion in Greater Shepparton.
It includes people with disabilities, industry service providers and a nominated councillor. Council staff members provide administrative support for the committee.
Council director community Kaye Thomson said there was one community representative position and one service provider position available on the committee.
“Committee members will be elected for a nine-month term, with the committee meetings occurring monthly (excluding January)," she said.
“The committee advises council on issues people with a disability and their carers face in the community. Council and the disability advisory committee are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive community for all.”
Nominations will be received until 5pm on Friday, September 20.
Forms and more information can be found on the Greater Shepparton City Council website or at the council offices at 90 Welsford St, Shepparton.
Verbal nominations can be made by phoning the access and inclusion officer on 5832 9700.
