Echuca-based photography business Unicorn Magical Memories offered its services for free to work with children's charity Very Special Kids to connect children and animals and create a magical wonderland of memories.
Mother of two Danielle Squires, whose daughter Monique died aged five after being diagnosed with an agressive brain tumour, said the day was special.
Ms Squires, from Bamawm Extension, west of Echuca, took her daughters Olivia, 10, and Zoe, 7, along for the photoshoot on Sunday, August 18.
Ms Squires said Monique's diagnosis came as a devastating shock to her family.
"Monique was diagnosed at the age of four with an aggressive brain tumour called DIPG," she said.
"She had been experiencing headaches, vomiting and dizziness but when she became unwell on September 1, 2015 and her right eye turned we took her straight to the emergency department.
"As parents we never imagined being told that night 'your child is going to die and there is nothing we can do'.
"Monique bravely fought DIPG for 13 months and passed away on October 15, 2016, just after her fifth birthday."
Ms Squires thanked Very Special Kids for supporting her family during Monique's illness and after her death.
"We were very fortunate to have Very Special Kids come into our lives," she said.
"When your child is unwell and terminal, you spend a lot of time at the hospitals and with the palliative care team.
"But when your child dies, all of those services stop and you are lost. That is why it is important that people know about Very Special Kids because they are a charity that keeps on giving no matter what."
Very Special Kids provides children's hospice and free family support services to more than 900 families across Victoria. More than 1000 volunteers help the charity with fundraising or administration. More information at www.vsk.org.au
