US bans electronics from 10 airports

March 21, 2017

The US is expected to announce a ban on electronic devices on some US-bound foreign airline flights.

US authorities are planning to ban passengers travelling on certain US-bound foreign airline flights from carrying on larger electronic devices in response to an unspecified terrorism threat, a US government official says.

The official says no American carriers are impacted by the ban, which will involve devices larger than a mobile phone.

The new rule is expected to be announced by the Homeland Security Department and cover about a dozen foreign carriers.
