Banana Boat sunscreen blamed for burns

January 11, 2017

Parents and kids have suffered sun burns despite applying Banana Boat sunscreen as directed.

Sunscreen-maker Banana Boat is under scrutiny amid claims its SPF 50+ sunscreen has failed to protect people, instead leaving them with significant burns.

A number of consumers have taken to Facebook to complain about the company's SPF 50+ sunscreen, with mother Danielle Batten posting pictures of her daughter with first degree burns on her back.

Ms Batten claims her daughter suffered the severe sunburn despite being lathered in Banana Boat.

The manufacturer's regional vice-president, Ivan Nuich, on Wednesday said the company had never found any issues with its products and sunscreen returned for testing had "not shown an issue with efficacy".
