Charity starts with home

Three Shepparton families will own their own homes for the first time, thanks to the generosity and hard yakka of local businesses and tradies.

The three Gilchrist St homes are being built with support from the Victorian branch of the international not-for-profit group Habitat for Humanity.

The Shepparton project's co-ordinator Dallas Terlich said two Congolese families and a Shepparton single mother of two would move into the homes when they were completed in another 12 to 18 months.

Mr Terlich said the homes were being built with ``sweat equity''.
