Look out for phone scam

Goulburn Valley residents are being warned about callers pretending to be from Federal Government departments and trying to obtain personal details for identity fraud.

The warning comes after a Shepparton woman received a hoax phone call on Thursday, claiming she was owed around $5000 and would receive the money after first paying income tax.

The pensioner, who wished to remain anonymous, said she received a call at 11.45 am from a woman asking to speak to the female householder.
