Shepparton needs 160 donors a week to keep blood stocks level, as blood and blood products have a limited shelf life.
The News challenged its Facebook fans to get inspired by the story of Christine Dicketts and Jill Grant who both donated blood for the 100th time at the Shepparton blood bank on Thursday.
Between the two women, they have donated more than 94 litres of blood and helped save about 600 lives.
Facebook user Sarah responded, saying she really wished she could donate blood but was prevented from doing so by Multiple Sclerosis.
