Hopefuls cut from similar cloth

The two key contenders for Victoria's most marginal seat of McEwen have quite a few similarities.

Liberal candidate Cameron Caine and his Labor opponent Rob Mitchell have worked and volunteered in plumbing, truck driving, Victoria Police and the Country Fire Authority.

Both have long associations with local football clubs and express a passion for country living.

So it seems a result on August 21 might again go down to the wire, with the retirement of long-time Liberal member Fran Bailey.
