The failure of an electrical component at a Goulburn Valley Water pumping station left many Numurkah residents without water for up to an hour last week.
Goulburn Valley Water's operations manager Bruce Anderson said the electrical component disabled the pumps that supplied the water tower in Numurkah and associated alarming systems.
This caused the water tower to empty at about 6.15 pm last Wednesday.
Mr Anderson said staff were able to bypass the failed component and start pumping shortly after 7 pm.
