More than 300 people took part in either the 8km or 4km walks, all with the same goal to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
Event co-ordinator Kathy Fuller was amazed with this year’s turnout, saying she was blown away by the support shown by the Shepparton community.
‘‘We had an amazing turn-out with over 300 people, it was a great atmosphere and just a perfect morning,’’ Ms Fuller said. ‘‘We had Jane Walters share her own personal story and the Canoe Club were out on the water, it was beautiful.’’
Ms Fuller said a number of participants also came from out of town, with many visiting Shepparton to spend Mother’s Day with their families.
While participants showed their support by wearing a splash of pink, Ms Fuller said the day was about the community coming together for an important cause.
‘‘We’re raising funds for breast cancer research, outside of that it’s about the community coming together to support those undergoing treatment or who have lost family and friends,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s just a way of saying they won’t give up the fight.’’
