The performance will be led by pianist David Fung who has returned to Australia and Melbourne Chamber Orchestra for performances of two of Bach’s keyboard concertos.
Recently praised for his simply gorgeous playing and crystalline phrasing, Fung is an ideal match for the immaculate poise and effortless dexterity these wonderful concertos require.
In a program curated by MCO artistic director William Hennessy AM, the brio of Bach’s concertos encounters a program of contrasts including a Telemann concerto for four violins and three miniatures by Dvoøák.
Riverlinks performing arts and conventions manager Ken Cameron said in Shepparton they had the opportunity to put on so many incredible performances including this concert from one of the country’s leading chamber orchestras.
‘‘It’s always a pleasure to welcome the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra to Riverlinks,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve been lucky enough to see many wonderful performances from them in previous years.
‘‘This year, patrons have the opportunity to meet the musicians and enjoy light refreshments after the concert.’’
The Melbourne Concert Orchestra will perform at Riverlinks Eastbank on Friday, May 3, with a pre-concert talk from 7pm. Tickets are available through Riverlinks Box Office on 58329511.
