Grahamvale Primary School Foundation students Kira McCutcheon, Caleb Mehmet, Chloe Chong, Oscar Ryan, Ellie Hawkes and Sean Chua are happy with the new tennis racquets.

Grahamvale Primary School has some new tennis fans after Foundation students received new tennis racquets.

Physical education teacher Suzanne Watts said each student would receive a racquet from a ANZ Tennis Hot Shots donation.

‘‘They get to take the racquet home with them and keep practising,’’ she said.

Ms Watts said the school had been fortunate enough to receive racquets for all Foundation students for the past three years and each time it raised their interest in tennis.

‘‘A lot of them go and join Hot Shots at a tennis club or go for tennis lessons,’’ she said.

St Georges Rd and Ardmona primary school students also received new racquets.

Tennis Australia said ANZ Hot Shots and Tennis Australia’s school partnership program had distributed 80000 tennis racquets to children in the past three years with a further 30000 this year.

The program encourages children to pick up a racquet and learn tennis as part of their health and physical education curriculum.
