Three generations: Foundation student Ruby, 5, with her nan Sharon Anderson and mum Stacey Bowles yesterday.

Having fun: Grade 1 student Brodie Kelly, 7, with his mum Cathy reading a book together yesterday.

Learning of the best: Grandma Wendy Bye and Grade 1 student Alex, 6, find a quiet spot to read a book together at Congupna Primary School.

Cold, wet and miserable weather didn’t dampen the spirits or smiles of foundation and Year 1 students at Congupna Primary School yesterday.

More than 20 mums and grandmas visited students for reading and morning tea ahead of Mother’s Day tomorrow.

‘‘We really want to make families know they’re welcome at school,’’ Congupna Primary School principal Adam Cleary said.

‘‘The staff had done a fantastic job in helping facilitate this.’’

Students proudly showed off their classroom and book-reading abilities before enjoying a hot tea and coffee.

‘‘Bunnings also donated potted plants which students painted messages on for their loved one,’’ Mr Cleary said.

Congupna Primary School will host its first Open Day this Monday followed by another on Wednesday, May 23.
