Dhurringile prison drug trafficking allegations investigated

Allegations of drug trafficking within the Dhurringile prison are being investigated by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).

A female Dhurringile prison officer resigned in February following a series of allegations of misconduct, Corrections Minister Gayle Tierney confirmed.

An IBAC spokesperson said the commission was investigating the matter, a fact confirmed by Corrections Victoria.

Shadow Corrections Minister said the prison system was "in crisis", while Dhurringile Community Action Group chair Frank Niglia said it was disturbing to hear the news.
