Police are continuing to investigate seven spot fires which occurred in Gillieston earlier this week.
Twenty Country Fire Authority tankers and two water bombing helicopters were called to battle blazes on Tuesday.
The blazes spread along Byrneside-Gillieston Rd, north west of Tatura, for hundreds of metres.
Earlier this week, police believed the blazes were believed to have been caused by a hay truck.
‘‘For whatever reason, the hay has gone up and bit by bit has caused some grassland to be engulfed in fire,’’ Shepparton police Sergeant Phil Semple said.
Yesterday, Shepparton police Detective Acting Sergeant Gary Dean said police were continuing to look for witnesses.
‘‘Looking to speak to anyone who might have noticed anything suspicious,’’ he said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Shepparton police’s Crime Investigation Unit on 5820 5800.
