Sixteen CFA units attended a grass and scrub fire on Barmah-Shepparton Rd, Shepparton, just after 2.30pm yesterday.

A Country Fire Authority spokesperson said they were investigating the cause of the fire, which burned for about an hour before being deemed under control.

A water-bombing aircraft was called in to help firefighters with the burning trees and grassland.

Barmah-Shepparton Rd was closed to traffic and police were on scene to divert vehicles away from the area.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a man in his 30s was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

No assets were reported lost during the blaze.
