GOTAFE celebrated their students with an Awards Recognition Ceremony held at the Seymour Campus on Monday night.
The event recognised students who successfully completed their studies in 2016 within the services sector including Business, IT, Art and Design, Sport and Recreation, Community Services and Health.
Maddison Grey and Brooke Boulton were awarded the Outstanding Student Award – Health for successfully completing Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled – Division 2 Nursing) (HLT51612) and Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015)
GOTAFE health and community team leader Andrea Steele said Maddison is a team player and a great communicator.
‘‘Maddison was always prepared to put in the extra miles to achieve what she needed to and this is evident by her achievements,’’ she said.
‘‘Not only does Maddison hold her Diploma of Nursing, previously to this Maddison completed her Dental Nurse qualification and in the near future will go onto Latrobe University to complete her Bachelor in Nursing.’’
Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) student Brooke Boulton was also recognised, awarded the Outstanding Student Award for Health.
‘‘Brooke embraced her opportunity for learning wholeheartedly,’’ GOTAFE community services team leader Mary Boruch said.
‘‘She strove to complete her work to the highest standard and was encouraging of all the other class members throughout the course. She was well liked, highly regarded and respected by all of her colleagues.’’
GOTAFE executive manager Sandy Parker said these newly qualified students would enter the local workforce and use their skills to better the community.
‘‘GOTAFE is dedicated to providing regional students with access to unique programs, facilities and pathways to university,’’ she said.
‘‘This event is one of a series held throughout the region this March.’’
