The Apex club of Cobram-Barooga is once again set to host some of the fastest and wildest ride-on mowers in the country on Sunday at Scott Oval.
Beginning at 9.30am, the annual Cobram Lawn Mower Races will have racers and families from near and far swarm to Cobram for this highly anticipated event.
Organisers Damien Guthrie and Adrian Salter said the highly modified mowers would provide fantastic entertainment by flying around the purpose-built track, doing their utmost in pursuit of success.
‘‘It is great racing, very competitive but wonderfully accessible and enjoyable at the same time,’’ Mr Salter said.
The annual event has been a great success in past years and Mr Guthrie and Mr Salter believed this year would be no different.
‘‘This event always draws a good crowd and is a wonderful day out for the family or those looking for something a little quirky,’’ Mr Guthrie said.
Ned Elliott — a star of Channel Seven show Little Big Shots — will be racing and will no doubt be a headline attraction.
The Apex club will be providing a barbecue and drinks and there will be lunchtime activities for children.
This year Doug Williams’ tractor Plum Crazy will be displayed on site and it will be cranked up during the day so those in attendance can hear the earth-trembling sound of the triple V8 engines.
This family-friendly event and is affordable with only a $2 donation at the gate required for entry.
There will be raffles during the day supported by businesses.
