A Shepparton woman was the victim of an aggravated burglary at her home on Balaclava Rd in the early hours of Monday.

Police are investigating the incident which occurred about 6.45am.

‘‘A 70-year-old woman was woken up with an unknown offender standing in her bedroom while carrying a torch and hammer,’’ a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

‘‘The offender asked where the valuables were kept and then stole some jewellery before leaving.’’

Police said a second offender was seen waiting out the front of the property.

‘‘Both offenders had their faces covered and wore gloves. The woman in the house did not sustain injuries,’’ the spokesperson said.

Two other incidents occurred around the same time and police are investigating whether these are linked.

‘‘An attempted burglary occurred at another property in Balaclava Rd while a burglary occurred at a sporting venue in Winston St,’’ the spokesperson said.

‘‘Anyone who saw anything suspicious at any of those three locations on Monday morning should contact police.’’
