Tourism guide showcases region

Fresh coat of paint: Greater Shepparton City Councils new 72-page guide has had a complete redesign.

Greater Shepparton City Council launched the new Official Visitors Guide on Thursday last week.

The visitor guide is published every two to three years and provides visitors and locals information about Greater Shepparton’s tourism offerings, including attractions, museums, dining, accommodation and services.

The 72-page guide has had a complete redesign reflecting the ‘‘Shepparton Many Great Things’’ destination brand.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s sustainable development director Geraldine Christou said it was an inspiring guide for those planning a trip to Greater Shepparton.

‘‘It showcases a taste of all that our beautiful city has to offer,’’ she said.

‘‘With approximately 50000 copies of the guide to be distributed over the next two years, this is the largest print run of any local tourism publication.’’

The launch also provided an overview of this year’s major events calendar where more than 30 national and international events will come to Greater Shepparton.

This year’s calendar builds on last year’s program, with more than 305000 attendees injecting an estimated economic benefit of $50.3million into Greater Shepparton.

Ms Christou said the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre used the guide to promote the region to visitors and locals, event attendees, new residents and business travellers.

‘‘It is an important publication and one that we are proud to launch,’’ she said.
