Police are investigating a series of thefts from cricket grounds in the Benalla and Glenrowan areas earlier this month.
Investigators were told an unknown offender/s attended a cricket oval on Ackerly Ave, Benalla, sometime between 1.30pm and 4pm on February 3.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said a beige purse containing a driver’s licence and bank cards were taken from a handbag.
‘‘The card was subsequently used at a Benalla supermarket and fast food store in Glenrowan,’’ the spokesperson said.
According to police, at some stage between 1.30pm and 6pm on the same day, cricketers at an oval in Bridge Rd West, Benalla, also reported their belongings were tampered with, and cash was stolen from two separate victims.
Investigators have released images of a man they would like to speak to. He is described as aged in his mid-40s to 50s with a solid build and white hair.
The man was last seen wearing a grey polo shirt and also had a cap on while at the cricket grounds.
