Renato’s Florist in Shepparton has been celebrating Valentine’s Day since 1981, making this year its 37th year.
‘‘When we started, Valentine’s Day was nowhere near as big as what it is today,’’ Renato’s Florist owner Sam Renato said.
Mr Renato will have six delivery vans and nine florists working this Valentine’s Day.
‘‘Valentine’s Day is our biggest day of the year, work-wise it is the equivalent of a month’s work in 12 hours,’’ he said.
Renato’s Florist has also grown with the times, offering teddy bears, chocolates, sparkling wines and balloons in its flower bouquets.
‘‘If you speak to your local florist, we’ve been doing it for years, we can make it look like ‘wow!’, with all the personal and lovable touches, we’re here for you and your loved ones,’’ Mr Renato said.

WHAT IS VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine’s Day is named after the legend of Saint Valentine, a Catholic priest who lived in Rome in the third century. Saint Valentine performed what were then illegal marriage ceremonies as a duty to his devotion to love. Being jailed for his betraying ways, he met and fell in love with a blind girl, who legend has it he cured. Saint Valentine was executed on February 14, 270, leaving behind a letter for his loved one, signed, ‘‘from your Valentine’’.
