An elderly man who drove his car into a police car at Kyabram on Monday has been treated for shock.
The crash happened just after 10.30am when the man, who was driving along McEwan Rd, collided with the parked police car.
Echuca police Sergeant Dale Simm said Campaspe Hwy Patrol officers were doing a random preliminary breath test on a driver at the time.
Sgt Simm said the officers were testing another driver when the man collided with the rear passenger side of the vehicle being tested, then veered off and collided into the marked police car.
‘‘The two members are not injured. It was a pretty close call and they’re back at the station now and will be going home,’’ Sgt Simm said.
The crash caused extensive damage to the cars, but there were no injuries and police are investigating the cause.
The elderly Kyabram man was taken to the Echuca hospital and treated for shock.
