New turning lanes outside Mooroopna’s Ferrari Park will improve access to the site.
The upgrade is part of investment to improve safety on the Midland Hwy between Shepparton and Stanhope.
The hope is that the upgrade creates ease of access so visitors can safely turn into the park off the Midland Hwy.
Some 79 crashes were recorded on the Midland Hwy between Shepparton and Stanhope between January 2010 and February last year, including three fatalities and 32 serious injuries.
A new overtaking lane between Bayunga Rd and Minchin Rd, near Tatura, as part of the project also hopes to improve safety outcomes.
Flexible safety barriers at high-risk locations will be installed, two overtaking lanes will be built on the highway near Stanhope and Girgarre east this year and a new roundabout at the Tatura-Undera Rd intersection.
The new turning lanes were completed last month.
State Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said there was an understanding of the importance of Ferrari Park to the community.
‘‘That’s why we’ve invested in this upgrade to make sure people can get in and out of the area safely,’’ he said.
‘‘These upgrades are transforming the Midland Hwy from one of our most high-risk roads to one of our safest.’’
