Gaming enthusiasts will descend on Shepparton in July to take part in one of the Goulburn Valley’s largest boardgame events.
ShepparCon is an annual event hosted by the Goulburn Valley Gamers Guild.
People with all skill levels come together to enjoy the hobby of boardgaming.
Now in its second year, organiser Matthew Bowles wants to make this year’s event a bigger success.
‘‘We have learned quite a few things which will lead to a better pricing structure, better location, and we plan to make time in the evening for a game show event without interrupting those playing games still,’’ he said.
The event was first proposed by the guild as a way to bring gamers together.
‘‘We’re a bunch of local gamers looking to grow our hobby, and provide some opportunity for people in the GV area to meet others and do some social interacting outside of their lounge room,’’ Mr Bowles said.
Nearly 100 people attended the event at GV Hotel last year. It will take place at the same venue this year.
GUF Shepparton general manager Matt Davies is looking forward to seeing more people at this year’s event.
‘‘The feedback from last year was very positive so hopefully we see double the numbers,’’ he said.
‘‘Every boardgame is vastly different and diverse and it’s great sharing that with other people.’’
The event will include door prizes, giveaways and competitions across the weekend.
ShepparCon is on Saturday, July 7, from 9am to late and Sunday, July 8, from 9am to 9pm.
