The Shepparton Festival is set to incorporate much more food and wine than in previous years in its jam-packed 2018 program of 54 events from March 2 to 18.
Launched last week, festival chairperson Fiona Smolenaars said the festival’s 22 years of success could be attributed to the hard work of people and businesses within the community.
Ms Smolenaars welcomed the festival’s new creative director Crag Carrick who came on board about two months ago.
‘‘Finding Crag has been an interesting experience,’’ she said.
Hailing from Scotland, Mr Carrick said he had spent the past seven years living in Australia and had a background in music promotion and bars.
Ms Smolenaars said they were excited to see what would happen in the future for the festival with Mr Carrick at the helm.
‘‘He organised an event in Scotland called the Wee Jaunt, which was a tour of Glasgow with bands playing in the bathrooms of venues,’’ she said.
Shepparton Festival general manager Amanda McCulloch highlighted a number of exciting events on this year’s program with the theme ‘By Design’.
‘‘We’ll have the By Design Festival Hub, which is a new, innovative space in the CBD — this is a trial run as we’ve never done it before,’’ she said.
She encouraged those who wished to head along to Gin on the Lawn — an afternoon of tasty gin cocktails accompanied by the melodic tunes of Sam Joole, The Blue Two Few and the Luke Joseph Band — to book their tickets fast for the March 11 event after last year’s sell-out.
