An almost 250m stretch of ageing water mains in Nagambie will be replaced during the next few weeks to reduce the likelihood of bursts.

As part of a water mains replacement program, Goulburn Valley Water is set to replace 240m of water mains on Vale St, Nagambie.

Numerous failures have been identified in the ageing mains in the past year.

GV Water says replacing them will reduce the number of bursts and improve reliability to customers.

Two weeks of works will begin from Wednesday next week.

Contractors will do the works between 7am and 4pm on weekdays.

GV Water expects there to be minimal disruption to Nagambie residents, with replacement mains to be located underneath the nature strip.

‘‘Customers who may have their water supply interrupted will be notified directly,’’ a GV Water statement said.

Traffic management will be in place during the two weeks of works.

For more information, residents can contact GV Water’s 24-hour customer service centre on 1800 454 500.
