Several Shepparton youngsters got a unique insight into how art translates to sound with Shepparton Art Museum and the Melbourne Polyglot Theatre’s Sound of Drawing workshop.
Three school groups as well as several groups of younger children attended the workshop, supported by Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park program, where they listened to the sound of their drawing through headphones.
‘‘The morning sessions with the schools included a tour of the gallery,’’ SAM public programs officer Feyza Yazar said.
Ms Yazar said they hoped to be able to run the workshops again if they continued to attract good numbers.
‘‘It is a unique opportunity for the children of Shepparton,’’ she said.
Polyglot Theatre artist Lachlan Macleod joined the children during the session and said the school students were able to take their created masterpiece home with them.
‘‘They can turn them into art journals or Christmas cards,’’ he said.
