The Shepparton High School hall was filled with colour, music and an array of cultures as the Victorian School of Languages held its end-of-year celebration recently.
Co-ordinator Nej Akdere said they had 11 different languages at the school, which operated out of the same building on Saturdays from 9.30am to 12.50pm.
‘‘It’s a community-based program where we focus on maintaining their languages,’’ he said.
From Albanian to three different Indian languages, the school focuses on local cultures and is generally open to children from Prep to Year 12, although it also takes some adult students.
‘‘We’re trying to help them maintain the language and the culture that goes along with it,’’ Mr Akdere said.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe and Deputy Mayor Seema Abdullah attended the event.
