Fascinators and dresses were dusted off for Oaks Day luncheons across Shepparton yesterday.
Hundreds of people flocked to the events at the East Shepparton Bowls Club and Kensington Gardens for the chance to enjoy good food, fashion parades and a cheeky beat or two.
The East Shepparton Bowls Club Oaks Day proved popular with 230 smartly dressed men and women packing into the clubrooms.
Organiser Lorraine Henderson said this was the sixth year they had held the event and it was always a hit with the community.
Ms Henderson said the event sold out and across the day people enjoyed raffles and good food.
The Shepparton Central Probus Club also attracted a strong crowd of about 50 at its Oaks Day event at Kensington Gardens.
Shepparton Central Probus Club member Janiene Sandford said the group had been holding Oaks Day events for many years but this was the first time they had held one at Kensington Gardens.
‘‘We had a lovely day,’’ she said.
‘‘Everyone brought nice salads and sweets to share.’’
Ms Sandford said there was a prize for best dressed and best hat and many people participated in sweeps across the day with some luckier than others.
