A man arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a teenage girl in Cobram will face court in January.

A man who allegedly attempted to abduct a teenage girl in Cobram will face a Wangaratta court in January.

Scott Kelberg, 30, intends to plead guilty to the alleged abduction attempt of a girl, 15, in April this year.

It is believed the girl was walking through the Cobram Showgrounds at about 4.40pm on April 20 when the man approached her, before she managed to fight him off and was taken to hospital.

Police arrested Kelberg in Barooga only hours after the incident.

He will appear in the Wangaratta County Court on January 29, to face one charge of kidnapping.

Two charges of detaining a person against their will and unlawful imprisonment were dropped in a previous hearing.
