Two people were arrested last week in Mooroopna after allegedly stealing more than $100000 worth of jewellery in Victoria and NSW.

They faced the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court yesterday on multiple burglary charges and have been remanded in custody to appear next month.

‘‘We had an arrest on Friday ... it’s been an on going investigation for a while with other Criminal Investigation Units in Seymour, Yarrawonga, Cobram, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Benalla,’’ Shepparton police Detective Gary Dean said.

With the public’s help, police found two people with an car load of allegedly stolen jewellery.

Police also seized another car allegedly full of stolen goods and more goods were found in a house.

Det Dean said there were numerous victims in the Greater Shepparton area that police would aim to contact in the coming months.

‘‘There is a lot of stolen property ... well and truly over $100000 ... a few house burglaries but generally rural residential jewellery burglaries,’’ he said.

A Doreen male, 29, and a Yarrawonga female, 33, faced court yesterday and neither made an application for bail.

They are due to face court again on December 4 for a further mention hearing.
