The Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club is on the hunt for lost members, ahead of its 50th birthday next year.
‘‘We are looking for those who initiated the club and also anyone who was involved or associated with it over the years,’’ GV Motorcycle Club’s Gary Ford said.
Formed in February 1968, the club had 23 foundation members and was led by inaugural president Keith King.
‘‘We had road bike, dirt bike and speedway drivers ... the club built the speedway track in Undera and one of our first events was a sports day,’’ Mr Ford said.
Before the introduction of overseas bikes, Mr Ford said motorbikes were seen as cheap transport, but mindsets quickly changed.
‘‘In those days motorcycling was a boon ... Japanese bikes came onto the market and they were cheaper and more reliable.
‘‘The vehicle quickly became a hobby,’’ he said.
Mr Ford said the club house held hundreds of different photos and memorabilia items but members were keen to add to the history collection.
The club’s 50th birthday celebrations will be held on March 3 from noon at the Aussie Hotel, Shepparton.
If you were a member of the club, please phone Gary on 0418344407 or Leckie Milne on 0408221372 to RSVP.
