The annual Oak’s Day luncheon is set to be a stylish affair as women bring out their hats and fascinators to celebrate the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The lunch is a major fundraiser for the Soroptimist International of Shepparton group, which this year is donating all funds raised from the event to Goulburn Valley Health’s oncology department for an ice-cooling machine.
The machine is $22000 and is used for some forms of chemotherapy to help patients retain their hair.
Soroptimist member Margaret Webster said the lunch had been running for more than 10 years and often attracted hundreds of women
This year’s event will include TAB betting on site, sweeps, a raffle, Fashions on the Field, plus best hat, best dressed lady and lucky door prizes.
There will also be a fashion parade featuring clothes from Pampens Boutique from Mooroopna and accessories from The Vintage Chic Boutique in Shepparton.
Ms Webster said the lunch continued to be popular because it was a good chance for women to get dressed up and enjoy a nice day out.
Ms Webster said the Soroptimists helped raise funds for many different charities across the Goulburn Valley and she hoped people would get behind their support of GV Health.
The Oak’s Day Luncheon will be held at the Sherbourne Terrace, 109 Wyndham St, Shepparton, on Thursday, November 9, at noon.
Tickets are $45 and include a two-course meal plus a free drink on arrival.
