Junior trials begin tonight for the Goulburn Valley Suns as the region’s premier soccer club cast its eye over the next budding stars.
The trials, which will be at McEwen Reserve, will take place tonight and Wednesday night for children between the under-13 and 18 age groups, while sessions for the under-8s to 12s will take place on the following Monday and Wednesday.
‘‘We are always looking for the best talent around and at the moment we have probably 80 per cent of it,’’ Suns president Mick Crisera said last month.
‘‘We aim to promote and develop the game and hopefully all the juniors come out, trial and under the tutelage of some great coaches we can all take a step forward in the right direction.’’
The Suns are also still on the look out for a new senior coach after Nick Kalafatis finished at the end of this season.
The National Premier League division two outfit is expected to have a new coach before presentation night on Saturday.
The Suns finished fourth, equal on points with third-placed Melbourne City, and Crisera hoped the Suns could match this season’s output and continue to reign supreme as the competition’s best regional club.
Expression of interest was also sent out for the under-20s coaching position, which Fred Zito did this year.
