Several Harmony Village independent living unit and aged care residents gathered for the facility’s major fundraiser yesterday.

The Harmony Village market day at the Shepparton East Bowls Club had an array of handmade goods and plants for sale.

Moved into the clubrooms due to poor weather, the event still ran without a hitch, with residents inside the warm building, enjoying a cuppa and catching up friends and family.

Leisure and lifestyle co-ordinator Joy Peters said the market day was part of a program that played an integral part in promoting improved quality of life on a daily basis.

‘‘Our innovative and interactive activities give our residents the opportunity to utilise their skills, experience new and engaging activities, participate in cultural and celebrative events, and connect with the greater community,’’ she said.

Guests joined in the fun and guessed how much a handmade rug weighed with the winner taking home the rug.

The village will look to run the event in future years.
