A Numurkah family is just one of hundreds that are expected to ride in this weekend’s Powercor Tour de Depot in Shepparton.
Shepparton Foodshare and Inspired Carers will share in the funds raised from the event on Sunday, which sees cyclists of all ages and abilities ride a number of different loops around the area.
Nielsen family members said they were participating in the event because it was for a good cause but were most excited about the finish line.
‘‘Team work makes the dream work,’’ Isabella, 17, said.
Family matriarch Jaime Nielson said her employer Diverse Builders generously offered to pay the entry fees to the event for all its employees this year.
‘‘The owner, Ned, loves health and fitness so encouraged us to do it,’’ she said.
‘‘We’ve got about 12 or so staff and family members signed up so far.’’
A community festival will be held at the Victoria Park Lake finish line, including free carnival rides, face painting and entertainment, as well as food and market stalls and a barbecue.
