A gorgeous display of orchids will be on show this weekend at Kialla Paceway.
The Goulburn Valley Orchid Spectacular is an annual event that sees people travel from across Victoria and interstate to enjoy stunning varieties of orchids now in bloom.
GV Orchid Club secretary Brenda Wise has been a member of the club for about seven years and loves attending the spring show.
‘‘I just like the information you get if you have any problems with plants,’’ she said.
‘‘We have talks and expert advice on growing plants.’’
The show also includes displays, floral arrangements and sales of pots, stakes and potting mixes.
When Mrs Wise retired she decided to join the GV Orchid Club and became passionate about growing the plants.
‘‘That’s my relaxation ... I love it,’’ she said.
The club is continuously expanding and currently has about 100 members.
Mrs Wise said it was wonderful to see all the locally grown orchids on display at the spring show and see who took out prizes for their plants.
‘‘The men grow some beautiful plants,’ she said.
The Goulburn Valley Orchid Spectacular will be held at Kialla Paceway, Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla, on Saturday, September 16, from 9am to 4pm and Sunday, September 17, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is $5.
