Emergency services attend the scene of a fatal collision that resulted in the deaths of two people on Saturday.

Two occupants died at the scene of a two-vehicle collision west of Tongala at Wyuna on Saturday morning just after 8am.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said police were told a vehicle was travelling east along the Murray Valley Hwy when it collided with a second vehicle entering the highway from Scobie Rd.

They confirmed the two occupants of the second vehicle involved, a man and a woman, both in their 60s, died at the scene.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said volunteers from the Tongala Community Emergency Response Team and paramedics attended the scene.

‘‘They arrived to find two people had died,’’ the spokesperson said.

According to the police, there were five occupants of the first vehicle, two men and a woman, all aged in their 40s, and two teenage children.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said one of the men aged in his 40s sustained spinal and chest injuries and was taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital in a stable condition. ‘‘A teenage girl has pelvis injuries and was taken to Echuca hospital in a stable condition,’’ the spokesperson said.

‘‘Paramedics treated two other adults and another teenager, who didn’t require transport to hospital.’’

The two fatalities brought this year’s Victorian road toll to 179 deaths, according to Victoria Police, compared with 205 during 2016.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or who witnessed the collision is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
