Twenty-one debutantes participated in the Verney Road School deb ball.

Twenty-one debutantes from Verney Rd School took part in an emotion-filled night at the GV Hotel were on Thursday last week.

Organiser Janine Thorne said the partners volunteered their time to make the evening as special as possible for the debutantes who enjoyed dancing the night away.

‘‘It was a wonderful night,’’ Ms Thorne said.

‘‘It allows our students to be able to take part in a deb ball just like other students,’’ she said.

The debs were presented to Greater Shepparton City Council deputy major Kim O’Keefe and Verney Road School principal Janet Gill-Kirkman.

Ms Thorne said there were lots of tears and smiles during the student and parent dance, which was a highlight of the event.

‘‘There were lots of special moments throughout the night,’’ she said.

Ms Thorne said the students practised two dances in the lead-up to the event with instructor Ros Lynch-Jones during school.

‘‘It all came together on the night,’’ she said.

Ms Thorne thanked the Verney Road School staff for their hard work in helping to organise the event.

‘‘The amount of time and effort they put in was just fantastic,’’ she said.
