Fun and participation was top of the agenda during an All-Abilities football and netball carnival this week in Mooroopna.

Valley Sports program manager Nattalie Joinbee said the annual September event this year had almost 200 participants.

Teams from as far as Wodonga, Bendigo and Echuca participated in the round-robin competition along with teams from Shepparton.

‘‘We had people with a range of disabilities participate and the aim is fun and participation,’’ Mrs Joinbee said.

‘‘We didn’t have an overall winner, but every team was presented with a best for the day player, picked by the coaches.’’

Mooroopna Lions Club members donated their time to cook a barbecue at the event, while Netball Victoria employees helped encourage the netballers.

Mrs Joinbee said Valley Sports was keen on expanding the carnival if there were teams across the state wanting to get involved.
