A former Australian Idol winner and platinum-selling pop star was allegedly caught in Shepparton with drugs and weapons.
Bendigo singer Katherine DeAraugo, 31, better known as Kate DeAraugo, was allegedly found in Shepparton with methamphetamines, or ice, twice in five days earlier this year.
Police will allege the singer was first caught with .43 grams of ice in Shepparton on June 10. Just five days later on June 15 she was allegedly caught with a trafficable quantity of ice, a large knife and a tomahawk without a lawful excuse.
After submitting to an oral fluid test Ms DeAraugo was also allegedly found to be driving in Shepparton with drugs in her system.
She was called to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday on six charges in relation to the matters.
The singer did not appear in court, and instead had her matter adjourned via a letter from her lawyer.
Her case was adjourned to October 4 at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court.
Ms DeAraugo shot to fame in season three of Channel 10’s Australian Idol in 2005 when she won the series.
She released her platinum-selling debut album A Place I’ve Never Been later that year.
