There is a big night planned for the greyhounds on Monday at Shepparton greyhound track with the Waaia Football Club holding a sponsors’ night.

In appreciation, the the club is holding a get-together with all sponsors, players and supporters invited to come along and enjoy the night.

Some of the Waaia players have greyhounds and there is a fair bit of confidence there will be some nice tips going around.

The local trainers have been on fire lately and this is likely to be the case again Monday, so for those who venture out and get the latest mail, there is sure to be plenty of cash to be made.

Adele Powell and Mick Carter flew the local flag this week, both having wins in the city and both kennels continue to notch up winners on a regular basis.

One trainer who has had a fantastic past three years is David Warburton, one of the most popular people in greyhound racing.

Warburton rarely goes more than a week or two without a winner and would probably have the best breeding percentage in the region during that period.

He is a humble person and Warburton never declares his greyhounds are going to win, but if he says they will go all right, it usually means do yourself a favour and put a few bucks on them; you might win more than you lose.
