Drive away with a bargain

Jason Sherlock and Cheryl Hammer check out the prized Audi A1.

The Community Fund Goulburn Valley is aiming to raise $50000 with its Monster Community Raffle which will be drawn in November.

Tickets for the raffle — run in conjunction with the Audi Centre of Shepparton — have been on sale since the end of June at $2 from participating organisations.

Community Fund GV chief executive Cheryl Hammer said half of the proceeds went back into the fund and half went to four participating local organisations.

‘‘We’ve got Connect GV, the Rotary Club of Shepparton, Shepparton Foodshare and the Shepparton Bears Football Netball Club on board and they will receive $1 from every ticket sold,’’ she said.

Ms Hammer said the raffle gave the organisations an opportunity to raise money as well as support the Community Fund GV.

The major prize — a $39,000 drive-away Audi A1 four-door hatch — was donated by the Audi Centre of Shepparton.

Ms Hammer said the donation went above and beyond the generosity her organisation had expected.

Dealer principal Jason Sherlock said it was a good opportunity for the dealership to engage with the community.

‘‘You’ve got to be a part of the community,’’ he said. Mr Sherlock added that his company was due to bring Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships to the community by March next year.

Ms Hammer said community members could expect to see the Audi A1 out and about in the coming months at various events and markets as well as at Riverside Plaza in Kialla. ‘‘People will get a chance to see it and check it out,’’ she said.

Ticket holders will also get a chance to win second prize — a white goods package offered by The Good Guys — and the third prize which is a $1000 Caltex fuel card.

Ms Hammer encouraged people to buy tickets from participating organisations and groups or from the Community Fund GV.

She said both ConnectGV and Shepparton Foodshare hoped to raise $10000 each as a result of their participation in the Monster Community Raffle.
